The AIRCRAFT

A variant of Lockheed's F80 "Shooting Star" the T33A is the most widely used tandem two-seat advanced trainer in the world. It has been supplied to the air arms of some twenty-five countries, and built under licence in Japan by Kawasaki, (210 machines) and in Canada by Canadair as the CL-30 Silver Star (T-33AN), (656 examples). The Silver Star Mks. 2 and 3 differed from the U.S. manufactured T-33A in being powered by a 5,100 lb.s.t. Rolls-Royce Nene 10 turbojet. The parent company had manufactured a total of 5,691 T-33A and T-33B trainers when the last was delivered in August 1959, the latter being a version for the U.S. Navy. The RT-33A is a single-seat photo reconnaissance model, and the DT-33A and WT-33A are respectively drone director and weather reconnaissance models. The prototype flew for the first time on March 22, 1948.

The first T-33 A was delivered to Portuguese Air Force in 1953. The 1919 belong to the 103 "Caracois" squadron, based at the Air Base Nº11 in Beja. The last flight of the portuguese T-33 A was in March of 1992 with a total time of 65.000 hours.

MODEL

This model for Flight Simulator 2002 was created using Flight Simulator Design Studio Pro v 1.6 (FSDS Pro), from Abacus Publications (http://www.abacuspub.com). The model features full moving parts with a realistic rendered motion of the main gear, with ultra detailed recessed wheel wells , a nose wheel steering, and pilots in a virtual cockpit. New fs2002 lights effects.

The realistic FS2k Air file made by Bruce Thorson is an adaptation of my former F80C fighter.

******************* PANEL ***********************

The panel contained in this archive is an original work of Bruce Thorson. The Bitmap is original from Phil Perrot slightly modified by me with the small black an yellow checklist label.

Move file f80c_shooting_star.gau which contains all gauges of the panel in gauges folder of fs2002.

********************SOUNDS***********************

The archive doesn't contains a specific sound file , but points to the default Lear 45 sound file. To have a more realistic sound, you can use that contained in my model of the F 80C available from my web site or from www.SurClaro. (file lockf80c.zip)

Installation

This aircraft is for FS2002 only. It may work with FS2000, but I don't know to what extent.

This aircraft comes already configured for FS2002.
Unzip with Winzip the archive 02T33FAB.zip in the aircraft directory of Fs2002 checking the option "use folder names" . After that you'll find the following directory structures:

T-33A_FAB______________
|__ model
|__ texture
|__ panel (*)
|__ sound ( see note above)

That's all
(*) pay attention to the gauge file which should be moved to the gauges folder of fs2002

Credits

A particular thanks goes to my brother Gerardo for his works on the textures of the model,
to Bruce Thorson for letting me use his panel and air file,
and to Jens-Ole Kjølberg for the fs2002 file conversion.
